Wide Open Spaces

When a severe storm caused tree limbs to fall on this Cary homeowner’s existing sunroom/TV room and the resulting water damage wasn’t the only reason for a renovation, SC Builders was brought in for the job. The existing sunroom was two steps down from the kitchen, the kitchen had no counter space and there was only room for a stackable washer and dryer. So SC Builders knocked down the existing sunroom and designed a new space to flow from the kitchen (on the same level), giving the homeowner a large kitchen, a new laundry room and a new TV room.
In the process of the renovation, the pros at SC Builders encountered a challenge involving the low header between the previous kitchen and sunroom. Removing the header was no longer an option, so larger crown molding was added, making the beam look smaller and less noticeable between the spaces. “Sam’s solution to the problem became a beautiful enhancement of the addition,” the homeowner says.
In the end the job was done on time and on budget. A testimonial from the homeowner reads, “SC Builders turned a dated and cramped kitchen into a thoroughly modern and beautiful kitchen and sunroom.”

Master Baker IS a Master Builder – It’s Official!

Master Baker IS a Master Builder – It’s Official!

Rumours that The Great British Bake Off (TGBBO) contestant Richard Burr is not a real builder are sadly mistaken because he is in fact a master builder, reports the Federation of Master Builders.
Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the FMB said: "The FMB is extremely proud that our member Richard Burr is challenging stereotypes about builders. Today's modern builders are often multi-talented as demonstrated by Richard's brilliant performance on TGBBO."
Berry continued: "Unfortunately many people have a negative impression of what constitutes a builder. The reality is that many builders are highly qualified, hail from a variety of backgrounds, and carry out a range of complex and difficult projects. We need to rethink the stereotypical image of 'mud and boots' in the building industry and think instead of building professionals such as Richard Burr."
Berry concluded: "The building industry offers young people a diverse and rewarding career and it's time old fashioned negative attitudes are changed to reflect the thousands of building professionals who work in the building industry."
